This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your data when you use our mobile application to pay utility bills and manage transactions. By using Utility Pay Pro, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect
We collect only the information necessary to provide our services and ensure a seamless experience.
Personal Information
Registration Data: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and mobile number to identify you and facilitate login.
Biller-Specific Inputs: To fetch bills (e.g., electricity, mobile recharge), you may provide biller-specific details like consumer numbers or biller IDs, which are used solely for processing payments via Bharat Connect and are not stored by us after the transaction.
Non-Personal Information
Transaction Data: We collect details about your payments (e.g., biller name, amount, date, transaction status) to display your transaction history in the App. Payment processing data (e.g., UPI transaction IDs) is handled by third-party UPI apps and not stored by us.
Device Information: We may collect anonymized device data (e.g., OS version, device type) to optimize App performance and troubleshoot issues.
We do not collect or store sensitive payment information, such as bank account details or UPI PINs.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your data to provide, improve, and secure our services:
- Service Delivery: To register your account, fetch bill details via Bharat Connect, initiate payments, process refunds (if applicable), and display transaction history.
- Communication: To send you transaction confirmations, account updates, or support responses via email or in-app messages.
- Improvement: To analyze anonymized usage patterns and enhance App functionality.
- Compliance: To meet legal obligations, such as tax reporting, fraud prevention, or regulatory audits, as required by Indian laws.
3. How We Share Your Information
We share your data only when necessary and with trusted entities:
- Bharat Connect: We share biller-specific inputs (e.g., consumer number) with Bharat Connect, operated by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), to fetch bill details and process payments. Bharat Connect’s privacy practices apply to their handling of this data.
- PhonePe (Payment Aggregator): As our payment aggregator, PhonePe facilitates UPI transactions when you pay via UPI apps (e.g., PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm). Your payment details are sent directly to these apps, and we do not access or store them. Their privacy policies govern their use.
- Regulatory Authorities: We may share transaction data with NPCI, PSP banks, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), or other regulatory/law enforcement agencies upon request or as required by applicable laws. Such data is stored within India per legal requirements.
- No Advertising: We do not share your data with advertisers or for marketing purposes.
4. Data Storage and Security
Storage: Your data (name, email, mobile number, transaction history) is stored securely on Vultr cloud servers located in Mumbai, India, compliant with Indian data protection laws.
Security: We use encryption (e.g., SSL) and secure APIs to protect your data during transmission and storage. Access is restricted to authorized personnel only.
Retention: Registration data is deleted immediately upon account deletion. Transaction data may be retained even after account deletion to comply with legal obligations (e.g., tax or audit requirements), stored securely within India.
5. Your Rights and Choices
You have control over your data:
- Access and Update: View or edit your profile (name, email, mobile number) in the App’s settings.
- Delete: Request account deletion via the App’s profile settings. Your registration data (name, email, mobile number) is deleted immediately from our servers. Transaction data may be retained as required by law.
- Contact Us: Reach out for data-related requests or questions.
6. Third-Party Services
The App integrates with:
- Bharat Connect: For bill fetching and payment processing, governed by NPCI’s privacy policy (available at bharatbillpay.com).
- PhonePe and UPI Apps: For payment aggregation and completion, governed by their respective privacy policies (e.g., PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties.
7. Children’s Privacy
Utility Pay Pro has no age restriction, as it uses Bharat Connect services, which are accessible to all eligible users. However, users under 18 should use the App under parental supervision due to financial transactions. We do not knowingly collect data from children without consent. If you believe we have such data, contact us to request deletion.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our services or legal requirements. We’ll notify you via email or in-app alerts before significant changes take effect. The latest version is available in the App or at utilitypaypro.com/privacy.
